Navigating Overwhelm: Rediscovering Self and Inner Harmony in a Chaotic World

Hello and welcome. Or indeed, welcome back if you’ve read my previous posts.  This one might make more sense if you have, if not, no worries, dive straight in and get learning about chakras. There is a wealth of information on this site and on my instagram page @katieeckersleycoaching and I hope you find the time to relax for a few moments and read up on how to make your life a bit less frantic and a bit more enjoyable.

If you’ve found your way to this blog and are already wondering how on earth you can make time to feel anything but frazzled, don’t worry, I’ve got you. I used to be that person. Now I’m the person who sits at her laptop sharing all the things I’ve learnt over the years. If I can go from the state I was in to the person coaching then believe me anything is possible.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not zen all day every day. And neither will you be as the world is a noisy place at the moment, it's easy to get caught out.  Self care could be a full time job…while you also generate a massive income, while raising children, gently, even though they’re off their heads on screen time and sugar, while having an instagram worthy home and making memories with family and friends, staying fit and lifting weights to help perimenopause, eating a perfectly planned and prepared meal…. F*ck that sh*t!

Ask yourself, what’s important to YOU? What are YOUR values? Are your thoughts and actions aligned with each other and to those values or is there a gaping disparity between them?

There are so many ways you can look deeper within, this blog series is going to break it down for you. Pick one or two that work for you, work on them, incorporate them into your daily rhythm then look at adding in another. I talk a lot about incremental change. Doing one thing a day adds up and gets you 7 steps ahead in a week, 28-31 in a month, 365 in a year. Or 366 this year! Make a note of all the things you’ve done and see how they add up.

As I write this post I had to do my own energy work and get back to basics to combat my loud inner critic (it's one of my main challenges, see my blog on numerology) and general overwhelm. As I sit down I see two white feathers float down past the window. A sign. A small miracle. The universe has my back. I am exactly where I am meant to be.

Let's begin...

What are chakras?

In Sanskrit, the word chakra means wheel or disc and refers to the seven centres of spiritual energy in the human body. When your chakras are open or balanced you will feel at your best.

I’ll go through each chakra, the colour and meaning attached to it, how it feels when out of alignment, words of affirmation and prayer and of course practical steps to incorporate into your daily life to regain balance.

Root Chakra (Muladhara):
- Colour: Red

- Location: Base of the spine

- Alignment: Grounded, secure, connected to the earth

- Imbalance: Fear, insecurity, instability

- Healing Words: Stability, security, rootedness

- Affirmations: "I am safe, secure, and grounded in the present moment." "I trust in the abundance and support of the universe."

- Prayer: "Divine Source, anchor me to the earth and nurture my sense of safety and security. Help me release fear and embrace the stability and abundance that surrounds me."

- Practical Step: Spend time connecting with nature by walking barefoot on the earth, gardening, or simply sitting with your back against a tree. Visualise roots extending from your feet into the earth, grounding you and providing stability and support.

Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana):
- Colour: Orange

- Location: Lower abdomen, below the navel

- Alignment: Creative, passionate, emotionally balanced

- Imbalance: Guilt, emotional instability, creative blockages

- Healing Words: Creativity, passion, emotional balance

- Affirmations: "I embrace my creativity and express myself freely." "I honour my emotions and nurture my inner fire."

- Prayer: "Divine Creativity, awaken the creative energies within me and guide me to express myself authentically. Help me release guilt and cultivate emotional balance and passion in my life."

- Practical Step: Engage in a creative activity that brings you joy, such as painting, dancing, or cooking. Allow yourself to explore your creative impulses without judgement, embracing the flow of inspiration and expression.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura):
- Colour: Yellow

- Location: Upper abdomen, near the stomach

- Alignment: Confident, empowered, assertive

- Imbalance: Low self-esteem, lack of confidence, power struggles
   - Healing Words: Confidence, empowerment, self-worth
- Affirmations: "I am worthy of love, respect, and success." "I trust in my inner wisdom and power."

- Prayer: "Divine Strength, ignite the fire of confidence and empowerment within me. Help me release self-doubt and stand tall in my own power, knowing my inherent worth and capabilities."

- Practical Step: Practise deep diaphragmatic breathing exercises to activate your personal power and confidence. Visualise a bright, golden light radiating from your solar plexus area, empowering you to assert yourself and pursue your goals with courage.

Heart Chakra (Anahata):
- Colour: Green

- Location: Center of the chest, heart region

- Alignment: Loving, compassionate, connected

- Imbalance: Grief, resentment, emotional detachment

- Healing Words: Love, compassion, connection

- Prayer: "Divine Love, fill my heart with unconditional love and compassion. Help me heal past wounds and cultivate deep connections with myself and others, embracing the beauty and joy of love."

- Practical Step: Practice acts of kindness and compassion towards yourself and others. Perform a loving-kindness meditation, where you send wishes of happiness, peace, and well-being to yourself, loved ones, and even those you may be in conflict with.

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha):
- Colour: Blue

- Location: Throat region

- Alignment: Authentic, expressive, communicative

- Imbalance: Inhibited communication, fear of expression, throat issues

- Healing Words: Expression, authenticity, communication

- Affirmations: "I speak my truth with clarity and confidence." "I express myself authentically and listen with compassion."

- Prayer: "Divine Expression, clear my throat chakra and empower me to speak my truth with courage and integrity. Guide me to communicate openly and authentically, honouring the power of my voice."

- Practical Step: Engage in journaling or expressive writing to clear and activate your throat chakra. Write freely without censoring yourself, allowing your authentic voice to emerge. You can also practise chanting or singing to open up your throat chakra and express yourself vocally.

Third Eye Chakra (Ajna):
- Colour: Indigo

- Location: Between the eyebrows, forehead

- Alignment: Intuitive, perceptive, wise

- Imbalance: Lack of clarity, confusion, closed-mindedness

- Healing Words: Intuition, insight, wisdom

- Affirmations: "I trust my inner wisdom and intuition to guide me." "I see beyond the surface and perceive the deeper truths of life."

- Prayer: "Divine Wisdom, open my third eye to the insights and guidance of the universe. Clear away any illusions or limitations, allowing me to see with clarity and discernment."

- Practical Step: Cultivate mindfulness and inner awareness through meditation or mindfulness practices. Spend time in silent reflection, tuning into your intuition and inner wisdom. Trust your inner guidance and allow it to illuminate your path forward.

Crown Chakra (Sahasrara):
- Colour: Violet or White

- Location: Top of the head

- Alignment: Spiritual connection, enlightenment, unity

- Imbalance: Disconnection from spirituality, closed-mindedness, ego

- Healing Words: Spirituality, enlightenment, unity

- Affirmations: "I am connected to the divine wisdom and guidance of the universe." "I am one with all that is, embracing the infinite possibilities of existence."

- Prayer: "Divine Light, awaken my crown chakra and connect me to the divine source of all creation. Dissolve the barriers of ego and separation, guiding me to experience unity and enlightenment."

- Practical Step: Engage in spiritual practices that connect you to the divine, such as prayer, meditation, or contemplation. Spend time in nature, gazing at the sky or stars, and feel a sense of awe and reverence for the vastness of the universe. Surrender to the flow of universal energy and trust in the greater wisdom of life.

I hope this post simplified the intricacies of the chakras for you and may the words, affirmations and prayers be your guiding light, illuminating the path to greater self awareness, healing and spiritual growth.  Embrace their power to transform and allow the divine energies to flow through you.
I suggest you like and save this post to come back to.

Love, light and laughter,
Katie xx

Unleashing the Power Within: A Journey to Soulful Living

With the hustle and bustle of modern life do you find yourself caught in the chaos, feeling like something is off, constantly overwhelmed? Quite often its the suppressed yearning for a deeper connection with our true selves that is causing the exhaustion.

What makes me the expert? I’ve lived it.

As a mother of three (of which two are neurodiverse), navigating the complexities of stay at home parenting and the constant juggling act of all the roles women play I experienced debilitating anxiety and migraines. I worked on what I was eating, how much exercise I was doing and trying to get the best sleep possible with seemingly sleep averse children. I was working on my mental fitness in the wrong way, allowing tablets and keeping busy to paper over the cracks. I wasn’t living a life aligned to my core values. I wasn’t listening to my intuition or my soul so my body decided it needed to scream at me.

What little whispers are you ignoring?

The turning point came when I stumbled upon a coach who was running a workshop titled something along the lines of "Release Your Inner Woo Woo”.  I was all in at that point -  woo woo? Do I need a cauldron?

The workshop led me down a transformative path toward becoming a coach myself (and a stand up performer and comedy writer…what!) specialising in guiding frazzled folk toward a more joyful and aligned life through traditional methods, practical work and energetics.

My journey involved a year-long immersive experience in healing practices such as coaching, reiki, numerology, reflexology, human design, akashic record reading, shamanic healers, womb healing and so much more. I embraced these holistic approaches not as quick fixes but as tools to tap in to my inner voice of love. The practices allowed me to slow down, creating space to listen to the whispers of my soul, revealing the miracles hidden within the fabric of everyday life.

Through numerology and human design, I learned to understand the unique energy flow within me. As women, we operate on a 28-day cycle, intricately connected to the moon's phases. This revelation transformed the way I approached coaching, enabling me to tailor my framework to each client's individual energy rhythms.

Empowered by this wisdom, I knew I needed to share the transformative potential of following one's soul.  I’d done it myself and followed the path to stand-up comedy! If I can stand on stage and make people laugh then i firmly believe anyone can do anything if it’s their heart’s desire.

In my coaching practice, I treat each client with the utmost respect and understanding, recognising the demands of modern life, parenting, work life balance...the list of demands goes on and on doesn’t it.  My framework, though consistent, is tailored to honour the unique energy rhythms of each individual. I believe that by tuning into one's soul, better choices emerge, and the gap between desires and reality begins to close.

One remarkable success story involves a client who felt stuck in her job and relationship. By rediscovering her passion for music—symbolised by the simple act of bringing her piano out of the shed—she began composing again and is working on her album. This transformation extended beyond her creative pursuits, permeating her personal life, leading to a house move, and an enhanced relationship with her husband.

I simplify the coaching process, offering daily prompts that encourage introspection and exploration of the soul's desires. Through holding a space for stillness and quiet reflection, I guide individuals toward realising their capacity to follow their dreams and live a soulful life—just faster.

Join me on this journey of self-discovery and empowerment. In future blogs, I’m going to talk through some practical steps and insights that can help you bridge the gap between your desires and your reality. Grab a notebook and pen and start now by writing down three words to describe how you want to feel. Now write three words describing how you actually feel in this moment. How big is the gap? What small steps can you take to build the bridge and ge to where you want to be?

If you’re struggling to work that out, I invite you to get in touch and together we can unlock the power within and embrace a life aligned with your truest self.

The journey continues; let’s explore the wonders that unfold when we slow down, listen to the whispers, and walk the path that aligns our lives with the abundance and joy of our souls.

With Love xx
