![]() Feeling like this photo? In the whirlwind of our daily lives, it's easy to feel engulfed by the chaos and demands that come our way. But what if I told you that you have the power to shift out of overwhelm and step into a state of greater ease and flow? In this mini blog post, we'll explore five powerful strategies that can help you navigate daily overwhelm and cultivate a sense of peace, clarity, and balance. 1. What’s one thing you can do today? Amidst the chaos of daily life, it's essential to remember that small actions can lead to significant changes. Take a moment to identify one simple action you can take today to alleviate overwhelm. It could be as simple as taking a deep breath, going for a short walk, or writing down your priorities for the day. By focusing on one achievable task at a time, you can regain a sense of control and momentum. 2. Release the how: Often, overwhelm arises when we become fixated on the details of how we'll accomplish our goals. Instead of getting bogged down in the 'how,' focus on the 'what' and 'why' of your intentions. Trust that the universe will provide guidance and support along the way. By surrendering the need to control every outcome, you can open yourself up to new possibilities and opportunities that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. 3. Is this raising or lowering my energy? Energy is a precious resource, and it's essential to protect and preserve it. Take stock of the people, activities, and environments that either uplift or drain your energy. Surround yourself with positivity and inspiration, and be mindful of how certain interactions or situations affect your well-being. By prioritising activities that nourish and replenish your energy, you can cultivate a greater sense of balance and vitality. 4. What do you need to release? Letting go of what no longer serves you is a powerful way to create space for growth and transformation. Reflect on any beliefs, habits, or patterns that contribute to your feelings of overwhelm. What do you need to release in order to move forward with clarity and purpose? Whether it's perfectionism, self-doubt, or fear of failure, make a conscious effort to release anything that holds you back from living a life of joy and fulfilment. 5. What words are you using? The language we use to describe our experiences can profoundly impact our mindset and outlook on life. Pay attention to the words you speak to yourself and others. Are you using language that empowers and uplifts you, or are you perpetuating negative self-talk and limiting beliefs? Choose words that reflect your highest potential and speak them with confidence and conviction. By shifting your internal dialogue, you can cultivate a more positive and empowering mindset. In conclusion, overwhelm is a natural part of life, but it doesn't have to control you. By implementing these five powerful strategies, you can shift out of overwhelm and into a state of greater peace, clarity, and balance. Remember, you have the power to create the life you desire—one intentional step at a time. Are you ready to take the first step toward a life of ease and fulfilment? ![]() With the hustle and bustle of modern life do you find yourself caught in the chaos, feeling like something is off, constantly overwhelmed? Quite often its the suppressed yearning for a deeper connection with our true selves that is causing the exhaustion. What makes me the expert? I’ve lived it. As a mother of three (of which two are neurodiverse), navigating the complexities of stay at home parenting and the constant juggling act of all the roles women play I experienced debilitating anxiety and migraines. I worked on what I was eating, how much exercise I was doing and trying to get the best sleep possible with seemingly sleep averse children. I was working on my mental fitness in the wrong way, allowing tablets and keeping busy to paper over the cracks. I wasn’t living a life aligned to my core values. I wasn’t listening to my intuition or my soul so my body decided it needed to scream at me. What little whispers are you ignoring? The turning point came when I stumbled upon a coach who was running a workshop titled something along the lines of "Release Your Inner Woo Woo”. I was all in at that point - woo woo? Do I need a cauldron? The workshop led me down a transformative path toward becoming a coach myself (and a stand up performer and comedy writer…what!) specialising in guiding frazzled folk toward a more joyful and aligned life through traditional methods, practical work and energetics. My journey involved a year-long immersive experience in healing practices such as coaching, reiki, numerology, reflexology, human design, akashic record reading, shamanic healers, womb healing and so much more. I embraced these holistic approaches not as quick fixes but as tools to tap in to my inner voice of love. The practices allowed me to slow down, creating space to listen to the whispers of my soul, revealing the miracles hidden within the fabric of everyday life. Through numerology and human design, I learned to understand the unique energy flow within me. As women, we operate on a 28-day cycle, intricately connected to the moon's phases. This revelation transformed the way I approached coaching, enabling me to tailor my framework to each client's individual energy rhythms. Empowered by this wisdom, I knew I needed to share the transformative potential of following one's soul. I’d done it myself and followed the path to stand-up comedy! If I can stand on stage and make people laugh then i firmly believe anyone can do anything if it’s their heart’s desire. In my coaching practice, I treat each client with the utmost respect and understanding, recognising the demands of modern life, parenting, work life balance...the list of demands goes on and on doesn’t it. My framework, though consistent, is tailored to honour the unique energy rhythms of each individual. I believe that by tuning into one's soul, better choices emerge, and the gap between desires and reality begins to close. One remarkable success story involves a client who felt stuck in her job and relationship. By rediscovering her passion for music—symbolised by the simple act of bringing her piano out of the shed—she began composing again and is working on her album. This transformation extended beyond her creative pursuits, permeating her personal life, leading to a house move, and an enhanced relationship with her husband. I simplify the coaching process, offering daily prompts that encourage introspection and exploration of the soul's desires. Through holding a space for stillness and quiet reflection, I guide individuals toward realising their capacity to follow their dreams and live a soulful life—just faster. Join me on this journey of self-discovery and empowerment. In future blogs, I’m going to talk through some practical steps and insights that can help you bridge the gap between your desires and your reality. Grab a notebook and pen and start now by writing down three words to describe how you want to feel. Now write three words describing how you actually feel in this moment. How big is the gap? What small steps can you take to build the bridge and ge to where you want to be? If you’re struggling to work that out, I invite you to get in touch and together we can unlock the power within and embrace a life aligned with your truest self. The journey continues; let’s explore the wonders that unfold when we slow down, listen to the whispers, and walk the path that aligns our lives with the abundance and joy of our souls. First up, I’m no scientist but what I write about here is certainly scientific fact. Actually, I do have a science degree but it’s in things like the physics of colour to get the right dye and how to program a computerised loom to weave a jacquard print. Fancy! Today, I want to talk about laughter and the very basic scientific reasons behind its incredible benefits for mind and body. I think Roald Dhal put it best in Twits when he wrote “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” Laughter is a universal language that brings people together but it goes way beyond the moment of joyful expression. Scientists have uncovered a multitude of reasons why laughter is so beneficial to our overall well-being. 1. The Brain's Response to Laughter: When we laugh, our brain releases a cocktail of neurotransmitters, including dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins. These chemicals are often referred to as the "feel-good" neurotransmitters, promoting an immediate sense of happiness and relaxation. This chemical release helps to reduce stress and anxiety levels. 2. Physical Health Benefits: Laughter is like a mini-workout for the body. It engages numerous muscles, increases heart rate, and improves blood circulation. The increased oxygen intake during laughter stimulates vital organs, promoting better cardiovascular health. Regular laughter has been associated with lowered blood pressure, reduced inflammation, and a strengthened immune system. 3. Stress Reduction & Resilience: Laughter acts as a natural stress buster. It decreases the production of cortisol, the stress hormone, leading to a more relaxed state of mind. By reducing stress, laughter can contribute to better mental health and resilience, making it an accessible and enjoyable coping mechanism in challenging situations. 4. Social Bonding and Connection: Laughter is a social behaviour that plays a crucial role in building and strengthening relationships. Shared laughter creates a sense of camaraderie and fosters social bonds. In group settings, it acts as a powerful social glue, promoting a positive, cohesive atmosphere. This social aspect of laughter contributes significantly to our overall mental well-being. 5. Cognitive Benefits: Engaging in laughter stimulates brain activity and creativity. It encourages a more optimistic and open-minded outlook, enhancing problem-solving skills and fostering a positive mindset. Additionally, laughter has been linked to improved memory and cognitive function, providing long-term cognitive benefits. While being a delightful expression of joy, laughter is a powerful tool that positively impacts our physical and mental health. From reducing stress and promoting heart health to enhancing social connections and cognitive abilities, the science of laughter reveals its multifaceted benefits. So, the next time you find yourself in need of a mood boost, consider indulging in a good laugh – your mind, body and probably those around you, will thank you! How are you today? No, I mean really, how are you? Exhausted? Frazzled? A bit fed up? Or having an ok day but that sense of unease hangs over you. It’s always there so it feels normal. Feeling like something is going to go wrong at any minute. I see you! I spent most of my life like that until Intuitive Coaching found me. If you’ve read my story you’ll know that migraines and anxiety had me under control for decades. It was debilitating and miserable. On the outside I looked ok, it was all stuck in my head. Thoughts, emotions, criticisms. I still have to work hard at not living in my head, as soon as I slip out of alignment there I am, brow furrowed, trying to plan and control. What’s your sign for being out of alignment? Mood? Pain? Hyperactivity? I have a brilliant book called “Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay. The book talks about ailments as dis-ease in the body as opposed to disease. I love it. I love the power of words and spelling. See, spelling even has the word spell in it! Magic! So, would you like to know the big secret? It’s very deep, very serious… Here it is… Are you sure you’re ready? Ok, here it is: DON’T DO ANYTHING. Yep. Stop. Er, what?! Let’s start at the beginning. Are you a busy fool? When we rush around in our over productive masculine energy trying to tick everything off our ever growing to do list we may feel like we’ve achieved something but does it nourish our soul? No. It doesn't. Sit down. Have your palms facing up, ready to receive and close your eyes. Place your feet on the floor to ground yourself and imagine your feet have roots growing deep into the earth. Imagine you have a brilliant white light from your head connecting you to the stars and the universe beyond. You can do this outside with bare feet on the grass for a supercharged effect. Take three deep, cleansing breaths. Now, I want you to picture your dream day. How do you feel? Where are you? What are you wearing? Who are you with? When you come out of your visualisation can you take that feeling and bring it with you into today? What is it that’s missing. Put it out there to the universe. Be direct. When you vocalise what you want your brain will start finding ways to prove it right. Similarly if you constantly think and speak about what you don’t have then again the universe finds its way of proving you right. I had this recently where I was up to my eyes in parent life and growled to myself “I just want to be on my own with nothing to do”. I kid you not, my car broke down that evening and I spent nearly 6 hours in the car on my own with nothing to do. My phone battery died and where I normally would have a book with me this time I did not. The universe directly answered my demand! A cold, dark night on a country lane was not what I’d wanted so always be specific! So, how do we live our aligned life, making decisions from your soul? First up, judgement. Do what lights you up. Not what lights other people up, not what you think you should be doing, not what you think other people think you should be doing. If you’re not sure what even lights you up anymore go back to the visualisation. You can also feel it in your body. Think of something that you know makes you feel good, you can feel it, its expansive, light. Whereas when you think of something you know you don’t like it feels constricting, heavy, a bit icky. Apply that to decision making and watch the daily miracles happen. Have fun with it, play around. You can pick something as a sign and ask the universe to show it to you when you’re on the right path. It might be a feather, a butterfly, anything you want. Mine’s a robin. Look out for them and notice what you’re doing at the time. If you want to spend some time journaling on your dream day vs your current reality you can do so in my Five Quick Journal Prompts To Make You Laugh. I’ve made them fun as journaling doesn’t have to be heavy and when we’re just starting out in our soul led life it can feel like there’s so much to learn! So go and have fun and download the prompts here. Love, Light & Laughter Katie x |
